Access

At the Malthouse, we are committed to providing a welcoming, inclusive and safe space for all communities, including disabled people and neurodivergent people.
The Malthouse has great facilities, including lift access to every level of the building. We also provide a wide selection of accessible and relaxed performances throughout the year.

Levels

Ground Floor: Box Office, Gallery/Foyer, Bar and Theatre (stalls).
1st Floor: Theatre (upper gallery), Dining Hall.
2nd Floor: Multipurpose space.
3rd Floor: Drama Studio, Dance Studio, Multipurpose space.

A staircase and a lift give access to all levels.

The Bar

The bar is situated in the foyer, on the other side of the staircase as you come through the main entrance. It is normally open 60 minutes before a performance and during the interval. There are poser tables in the foyer for your convenience.

Toilets

Ladies, Gentlemen’s and Accessible Toilets are in the foyer on the ground floor with additional accessible toilets on the 2nd and 3rd floors.
There are baby changing facilities in our accessible toilets.

The Auditorium

The auditorium is a flexible space, with a variable capacity. All seats all have backs to them; most gallery seats consist of padded 2 person seats with the addition of up to 50 standing balcony spaces with a bar on which to lean.

Wheelchair Users

Wheelchairs can be accommodated in the auditorium – up to four spaces for wheelchair users are available for each performance. Please let the Box Office know of your requirements when booking.

A staircase and a lift give access to all levels.

Hearing Systems

The theatre is equipped with an infra-red system. Those who wish to use the infra-red system should collect a headset from the Box Office and return it at the end of the performance.
PLEASE NOTE UNFORTUNATELY THIS SERVICE IS TEMPORARILY UNAVAILABLE

Dogs

Guide dogs and hearing dogs are welcome in the auditorium. Please request an aisle seat when you book. All other four-legged friends are welcome in the Foyer on a lead, but sadly not into the auditorium during a performance.

Smoking Policy

Smoking is not permitted anywhere in the Malthouse Theatre or Malthouse Campus.

Quiet Time

If you need some time out from a performance, our Front of House team will be happy to guide you to a quiet space until you are ready to go back into the auditorium.

Buggies

Buggies are not permitted in the auditorium but there is a designated cordoned off space to leave them next to the bar area in the Foyer.
